About
The Driver
Born in Sussex, Andy Britton was raised in Bristol before moving to Harlow in Essex with his family when fourteen-years-old. Andy started in a Glassblowing career in 1978 with Nazeing Glass in Broxbourne, before moving to Cumbria in 1986.
Andy entered the taxi business in 2005 following a diagnosis of chronic tendonitis in his neck. He joined Blue Star Taxis in Kendal as a self-employed Hackney Carriage Driver and went on to own the company in 2008. Andy left Blue Star in the early 2020’s to go independent and give more time to family life.
Andy is a keen motorcyclist, previously Chairman of the Kendal branch of the Motorcycle Action Group. He enjoys working on his bikes, spending time with his partner, children, grandchild, and extended family… plus, of course, delivering a high quality taxi service to residents of Cumbria, South Lakes and beyond!
The Service
With Britton Travel, the goal is always to ensure a high quality and comfortable taxi service, eradicating any stress before or during your airport transfer or distance travel.
Andy has a wealth of knowledge and has developed good practices that will ease your journey from booking, through to timely completion. He has experience with airport transfers, regular A to B journeys, hospitals runs, and school drop-offs, plus everything in between. You will not suffer from a lack of confidence at any stage of your travel, wherever that may be.
With a wheelchair accesible vehicle that has a maximum of six additional passengers, Andy is able to accomodate the vast majority of bookings. There is child seat storage available, a phone call on vehicle arrival, plus SMS on pick-up. Booking can be done online, by email, or contact Andy here.
As an independent driver Andy is more able to focus entirely on your booking, never cutting corners, neither literal nor metaphorical!
The Vehicle
The 68’ plate Ford Torneo can seat up to eight passengers in good comfort with plenty of leg room and ample room for luggage in the rear. Andy has very rarely had to put his Tetris skills to use when stowing luggage!
The vehicle also has the capacity to accommodate one wheelchair dependant passenger who is required to remain in their wheelchair plus a maximum of six additional passengers. Access is by ramp and winch from the rear of the vehicle, this does reduce luggage capacity somewhat and electric wheelchairs can take up more room so it is best to discuss your requirements with Andy prior to booking.
The vehicle is regularly looked after, serviced, and routinely cleaned for a safe and comofortable journey.
